Our Recycling Business Unit currently has a need for an IT Manager on a permanent basis. The role will be based in Bord na Mona Recycling Newbridge and will report to the Head of Recycling. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the planning, implementation, and maintenance of Business Unit information technology and operational technology systems and infrastructure.

The Role:

The main duties and responsibilities of the role will include the following:

  • Develop relationship with key stakeholders in the BNM Recycling business unit to understand the business goals and lead the development of an IT strategy and architecture to deliver the IT aspects aligned to the overall BNM recycling strategy. Total ownership for Operational software in the business
  • Assess technology needs, identify opportunities for improvement. Ensure IT projects undertaken by BNM Recycling operate to Group governance processes and standards. Ensure IT Security measures and standards are fully implemented and understood across the Recycling business. Monitor and report on IT operational and performance KPI’s and SLA’s as they relate to the Recycling business and ensure 3rd party hosted solutions are robust and proactively managed operationally to include network connectivity, proactive database management, server performance etc.
  • Prioritise productivity improvement opportunities, cost efficiencies, process simplification options, reduction of complexity and optimal service levels. Manage the relationship with key external vendors and suppliers of business applications and solutions specific to the Recycling business.
  • Support harmonising and simplifying supply chain processes. Cost-Benefit analysis of proposed IT solutions and IT upgrades. Establish and develop excellent working relationships with the Group IT team. Represent the BNM Recycling business unit at BNM Group level and ensure that IT shared services and solutions meet the needs of the Recycling business.
  • Manage internal and external contracted resources assigned to ongoing support of key operational IT systems and improvement projects including ERP cloud environment, API’s, payments, Oracle GL, IVR etc. closely with finance departments to allocate resources effectively. Evaluate costs associated with hardware and software purchases, vendor contracts, maintenance, and upgrades. Seek opportunities to optimize costs, such as through cloud computing, virtualization, or outsourcing.
  • The successful candidate should have good communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills, and be flexible in terms of availability for community engagement outside of normal hours. A self-starter with the ability to act on own initiative. Well organised and a good time manager.
  • Excellent leadership, negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.

  • Proactively participate in the Performance Management process to ensure delivery of own, and the wider team’s, objectives.

The Person:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualification, skills, knowledge, and attributes.

  • Minimum At least 10 years’ experience with proven track record operating at management level.
  • Third level qualification in Computer Applications or related discipline.
  • In-depth knowledge of current information and communication technology including networking and collaboration platforms. ERP management experience in Azure cloud environment.
  • Experience in project and process management.
  • Experience developing standards from best practice.
  • Excellent Attention to Detail
  • Experience with working to strict deadlines
  • Good team player
  • Results Driven
  • Solutions Orientated
  • Good Written and Verbal English essential.
  • Proficiency in the English language is a requirement alongside eligibility to work in Ireland.
  • Experience in the Waste Industry a distinct advantage.
